Call for collaboration: 1001 water crossings

Appel de collaboration : 1001 traverses d'eau
Gaspé, Thursday, February 4, 2021. – Whether it's the gulf, the bays or the rivers, there's no shortage of waterways in Gaspésie! The summer issue of Magazine Gaspésie will focus on the many ways to cross them over time. Bridges will take pride of place; drawbridge, wooden, railway or covered, the majority of which have now disappeared, not to mention the ice bridges. We will also talk about the small "ferries" and the ferries that have shuttled between the shores, and, of course, portage! 1,001 water crossings will retrace their history, that of the professions associated with it and the memories of passengers or users. You are invited to contribute to this summer issue (No. 201, August-November 2021) of Magazine Gaspésie by submitting a text for April 2, 2021. From shore to shore The means put in place to allow people and vehicles to cross waterways have had a significant impact on the lives of Gaspésiens. Interested in the story of a missing covered bridge? A member of your entourage was the captain of a small ferry? Did your family cruise the bay in a “snowmobile” in the winter? Do you know an anecdote about building a bridge? Do you have photos of a barge that transported individuals from one shore to the other? You have in hand a vestige of a missing witness? Want to share your memories? Tell us! The next issue wants to approach the "sleepers" in Gaspésie from different angles. Do you have ideas and the subject inspires you? Contact the editor to discuss. Articles vary between 600 and 1,250 words and the deadline is April 2, 2021, to your pens! The various chronicles continue! Ideas? All the details here Have a story to tell, but aren't comfortable writing it? Contact us, it is with pleasure that we will accompany you in your writing or will make a report of your story.
